TASK 1
1)可能的分组和顺序:先fish单独,再lamb和beef,最后chicken(和多条线有交点的线,放在最后描述)
2)“抓整体,不要切碎”
The line graph below shows an individual’s weekly consumption of fish, lamb, beef and chicken in a Europe country.
First, the weekly consumption of fish was relatively stable during the period with a slight slip from 60 to 50 grams, and it also was constantly smaller than that of any other meat. Second, a decline also happened to lamb, whose consumption dropped sharply from roughly 150 to roughly 70 grams. Likewise, beef was consumed in decreasing amounts, and the fall was also immense, from approximately 220 to 120 grams. It is notable that the initial years witnessed a dramatic change of the consumption, a drop followed by a rise to the all-time high (approx. 240 grams). [词汇:关键的得分点是表“程度”的形容词和动词] [句型和写作法:主语的多样变化]
Differently, the consumption of chicken showed a growth, exceeding that of lamb after 1980 and that of beef after 1989. In 2004, it soared to 250 grams and became the most consumed meat in this country.
Overall, chicken became the first choice for people in this country and the fish was always the least popular meat.
Task 2
People nowadays pay more attention to the pleasure a product brings to them than to whether they need it.
Do you think this is a positive or negative development?
【Introduction】略
* Life is too plain and joyless when people’s shopping depends solely on their practical needs.
* Contrary to this lifestyle, it is a delightful way of life that people shop for the pleasure commodities bring.
* Pressed and stressed people need to be pleased more than they need the utility.
* In this sense, buying a delight rather than shopping for a need is positive.
* However, the sheer pleasure comes at a cost.
* The seeking of such pleasure thus may incur colossal expense of money, which is likely to interfere with the regular life.
* This burden is certainly undesirable.
句子的长短搭配
* The drawbacks are not limited to that.
* There are two more.
* This way of shopping also may be a wasteful use of money.
* Since those goods meet no practical needs, they may be unnecessary and redundant.
* By contrast, buying only what is needed is pragmatic and down-to-earth and the maximum use of money.
* Second, those goods are distractions.
* People need to spend additional time and energy to take care of them, sparing the precious time out of their busy schedule to organize and maintain them.
* By contrast, if people lead a minimum life, having no extra objects that need to be attended, life is highly efficient.
