Discuss both of the views and give your opinion.
Some people deem popularity to be the key to success. However, I do not believe it and can refute this idea unequivocally yet with understanding of it to a degree.
On one hand, workers who are popular with their peers perform well because people are often generous in giving support to those who they like. “纵向”展开,细化解释give support:In the workplace, inter-peer assistance is given only to the popular workers, and information is shared only with them. In addition, people are particularly tolerant with the popular co-workers. On the other hand, even though the well-liked ones have these privileges, the favorable condition does not actually help unless the workers possess skills, as it is the external factor, which plays no role without the worker’s capability.
At this point, some may argue that popularity cultivates leadership, which is a key indicator of success. “纵向”展开,细化解释popularity cultivates leadership:A popular worker is convincing to his or her colleagues and well respected by them., and being able to convince others and having the prestige makes a leader. However, co-workers would not have faith in a leader who does not excel at skills or are not superior in ability. Instead, they would constantly question the leadership. How could this lead to success? Therefore, it is being skilled and capable in the job that actually enables a person to successfully play a leadership role.
At this point, it is crystal clear that even with popularity one may still accomplish nothing or be mediocre. Accordingly, it is also clear that skills and ability lead an individual to success.
