Originally, roughly 29% of the population around the world resided in cities. This year, North America topped the list in terms of city population(nearly 64%), closely followed by the figure in Europe(around 51%) and that in Latin America and Caribbean(41%). On the contrary, in Africa, there were only 16% of people living in cities, 1% lower than the figure in Asia.

North America will still rank the first place regarding urban population, as urban areas will be populated by 88% of the residents.
