It is clear that Belgium and Italy consistently spent more on health compared with other two countries. Belgium’s spending rose steadily from €5,000 in 2006 to a peak of €6,000 in 2009, before dropping sharply to to €3900 in 2012. This was followed by a slight increase to €4000 by 2014. Similarly, Italy experienced a gradual growth from €2900 to €4500 during the same period. After overtaking Belgium’s spending in 2012, Italy became the highest spender among the four countries.

In contrast, the UK and Iceland allocated less government funding to healthcare. The UK’s spending nearly doubled to €4,000 by 2012, followed by a slight decline of €1,000 in 2013. Likewise, Iceland also experienced a modest rise from €2000 to €3000 in the first six years, after which this figure leveled off until 2013.
